Even though it has been only about 10 years since photography was included in art in Korea, photography is becoming the very basics and center of the whole art field as it goes through amazing changes.
Yeonha Choi is an art critic, professor at the Korean National University of Art, Independent curator. She has held over fourty photo exhibitions in Korea, Southeast Asia and Europe, including the annual exhibitions on the Green Art Festival, Seoul International Photo Festival, Unesco Apceiu. She was selected as one of Korea’s top ten art critics in 2007 and 2008 and she was granted funding from the Art Council of Korea and the Seoul Foundation of Art and Culture. She participated as a co-writer of twenty Artists and Critics and has published a book, On Photography. In addition, she works with the Hankyoreh Newspaper Company, one of the largest media outlets in Korea. She was also Unesco Korea’s photo project curator.
