Piers Benatar, born in 1969. He studied photography and journalism at the London School of Printing. He has worked for the past six years in Islamabad and Kathmandu, and is now based in Rangoon. Although in many ways a difficult place to live and raise a young family, Pakistan proved to be fertile ground for his photographic career. As well as documenting the inexorable rise of Islamic extremism and the consequent persecution of religious minorities, Benatar covered the war in neighbouring Afghanistan.
