The exhibition curated by Francesca Fabiani takes form around this apparently paradoxical statement, designed as an itinerary for a critical, new and annotated interpretation of the work of one of the most important figures in contemporary Italian photography, Olivo Barbieri.
A major retrospective that frames, through over 100 works and seven sections, the diverse themes or areas of research around which Olivo Barbieri has developed his artistic work.
Photographs and films illustrate the photographer’s career from the late 1970s to the present.
A retrospective that retraces Barbieri’s themes and research, underscoring his constant attention to the theme of perception, his capacity to envision and interpret reality. With his photographs this artist casts doubt over the conventional modes of representation, to instead breathe life into new narratives by means of continuous, incessant perceptive experiments.
