Sergey Ponomarev was born in 1980 in Moscow. He graduated Moscow State University and Academy of Labor and Social Relations. Before becoming a freelance photographer in 2012, he worked for the Associated Press starting in 2003. He is best known for his photojournalism works depicting Russian daily life and culture.
