[C]hina is in constant demand for workers to build new cities that will accommodate the emerging middle class. A flux of migrant workers from western China seeks prosperity in the richer eastern coastal part of China. Most of them end up working and living for years in unhealthy conditions on construction sites. The money earned is sent back to their families. Most migrant workers are without a contract and are paid a pittance. Life is a matter of survival in the dust.
