Laos > 2003
During the Vietnam War, Hmong guerrillas fought for the CIA in their secret campaign in Laos. When the US withdrew in 1975, it abandoned the majority of these guerillas in the jungle, where they have lived in hiding until today. Thousands were killed while trying to escape into Thailand, and the survivors suffer genocide and persecution to this for their alliance with the US. These fighters and their families live with constant fear and little hope as the Laos army closes in.
