Tsvangirayi Mukwazhi, Market, from PRIVATE 36 – AFRIKA
[T]he market story focuses on the plight of the Zimbabwean women as they make a living in a country with the world’s highest inflation, currently pegged at 1281%. From as early as 5 a.m. women from various parts of the country converge at Mbare Msika, a market place in Harare.
They arrive with empty baskets and leave the market with fresh fruits and vegetables. I am fascinated by the hive of activity and energy as the women buy vegetables and by the manner in which they balance their baskets.
