Maciek NabrdalikMaciek Nabrdalik (, born in 1980 in Czestochowa (Poland). He is a graduate of Warsaw University of Technology. Nabrdalik shifted gears from a computer science background to focus on his greatest passion, photography, which he took up professionally in 2001. In 2003, he was hired by a major Polish daily as a staff photographer covering national and international news. In 2007, Nabrdalik began working as a freelancer. In 2008 he joined the VII Mentor Program, becoming a full member of VII Photo Agency in 2011. Although Nabrdalik often works in Europe, the U.S. and Asia, his main concentration is on sociological changes in Eastern Europe. He is based in Warsaw.

It’s common to hear photojournalists described as the eyes of the world, acting as witnesses to events that we would otherwise not see. To some extent this is true, but it’s a simplified description that suggests passive observation and it denies the greater function of active investigation that defines great photojournalism…
