Luca Ferrari was born in Rome in 1977. In 2004 he graduated in Documentary photography at the University of Wales, Newport with a BA and in 2005 at the University La Sapienza of Rome with a BA plus MA in Sociology.

In 2005 he published his first book “Rebibbia” on the Italian jail in Rome.

He completed reportages in Europe, former Yugoslavia, Sierra Leone, Colombia, India, Philippines and Sri Lanka.

Since 2009 he is working on the periphery of Rome called L 38, a photographic and video documentary long term project.
