Jan Banning (www.janbanning.com), born in the Netherlands in 1954. Before working as a photographer, he made a living of sorts as a pop musician and studied social and economic history at the University of Nijmegen. His specialism is in photo stories with intellectual pretensions. An example is his current long-term project on the world of bureaucracy, for which he has already completed chapters on Bolivia, India, Liberia and Russia.
