I took these shots a couple of days before Muslim’s 2nd Eid Celebration of the Islamic Year. This eid is called Eid-ul-Adha also called Feast of the Sacrifice, The Greater Eid.
At Eid-ul-Adha, many Muslims make a special effort to pray and listen to a sermon at a mosque. They also wear new clothes, visit family members and friends and may sacrifice an animal in an act known as qurbani. This represents the animal that Hadrat Ibrahim sacrificed in the place of his son.
People arrange livestock in open markets to sell these animals for sacrifice.
In the background you see a famous bridge over River Ravi, Lahore called as Saggian Bridge. People have to pass this bridge to go livestock market. So before Eid there is too much rush. And the sellers bring their animals to the River Ravi for a bath so they look neat and clean.
